Expanding your comfort zone (comspanding)

To succeed creatively, you must walk towards your fear. Use it as a guide to show you the things in your life that are worth doing. If you aren't afraid, it must be familiar; if it's familiar, then it isn't fully creative. -- Joey Cofone TLOC

Maybe not fear, but that feeling that pushes you into procrastination; not knowing where to start, not wanting to fail; wanting to go off an do something you know how to do well instead. Avoiding that feeling leads you to stagnation.

What we fight with is so small, and when we win, it makes us small. What we want is to be defeated, decisively, by successively greater things. -- Rainer Maria Rilke

Doing small things isn't satisfying; it's running in place, or even worse falling behind. You need get addicted to that feeling of unease; do the things you don't know how to do; fail over and over while getting better and better.

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. -- Anaïs Nin

The more you push yourself, the bigger you make your world. You need to be constantly feeling yourself hit the edge of your comfort zone, and then stretching it a bit further.

There almost has to be a German word for "the feel you get when you hit the edge of your comfort zone and then push a little further." Something like Kuscheleckeabtastendeigenartig. Really there is nothing stopping me from making up my own words and using them: comspanding (v): expanding your comfort zone by pushing slightly past it.

Great now I need to add "create dictionary of my own made up words" to my todo-list.
